RE: noisy hard drive?

In our local cluster of 750s, one third have, at various times, mysteriously 
started making a grinding noise, a constant higher pitched noise while 
spinning.  In all cases, within a week, the noise just as mysteriously went 
away.

On the positive side, it reminds us to do backups.
