WARP plug'n play irq setting

I'm running WARP on a TP750 with tcpip 2.0 over a 3com 3c589 PCMCIA lan
adaptor.  Everything runs great, except that card services wants to set the
IRQ for this card to 7.  IRQ 7 turns out also to be used by LPT1.  I hadn't
had any problems until today, when I tried to run backmaster 1.1 over lpt1
to my tape backup.  The program senses that IRQ 7 is in use, and exits with
a warning.  I have looked everywhere, and tried everything to get the IRQ
to set to 5 (which is free).  I've gone through all the docs I can find,
and IBM tech support (level 1), but I can't get OS2 to avoid sharing IRQ7.
It's time to ask the real experts.  Does anybody on the list have any
insights?
