Linux PCMCIA cardmgr and others

Well, at last i can say that i have a (mostly) stable Linux Box...

I'm running kernel 1.1.55 with only the modifications to floppy.c
and the -Ddoes_not_work_for_everybody_with_scsi_but_helps_ibm_vp CFLAG
in the general Makefile. 1.1.55 no longer has the #DEFINE FIFO_BUG option,
so i assume it is no longer needed. However, there are still some problems:

1- Coming in and out of X (2.11) is still screwy, it works with the suspend,
but it is anoying notheless. I have found that pressing a mouse button
(or moving it) during loading of the X server decreases the number of times
the display gets screwed up during startup (no idea why).

I'm using the modifications to the pvga1 driver by Michael Steiner and
adding #define DUAL_SCAN in the makefile.

   BTW: I have a 750Cs w/ 8megs

Does anyone know if XFree86 v3.1 has any of this fixed? just wondering...

2- I have a Megahertz XJack 2144 modem and i have pcmcia-2.2.3 installed.
It seems as if the cardmgr daemon does not recognize this card all the time,
and sometimes I get pcmem_cs.o loaded instead of serial_cs.o

Is there a way to "hardwire" serial_cs.o as default? I tried adding it
   to rc.M (/sbin/insmod /usr/src/linux/modules/pcmcia/serial_cs.o) but i'm
still missing something to make it work... Clues anyone?

3- One Word: APM, what's the deal with it? I know we have to patch it, but
   is it stable enough?

I think that's about the sum of it...

PS: Is anyone out there still selling 340meg HD's? I'm running out of
    spaaaaaaaaaaaace!

Thanks again!
