	Sounds reasonable to me, but --

This doesn't explain why the re-initialization works fine when
running on battery and not at all when running on AC.  This may
very well be a problem with PCMCIA device driver implementation,
but how would the driver know what power source is being utilized?

This has the feel of an APM problem to me, and since APM resides
in the BIOS on all Thinkpads, I've been led to believe that it
is the BIOS which is broken.

Maybe IBM is as confused as I am, and this explains the lack of progress
towards providing a fix.....
