Class Field Trip to the 2001 Conference on Computers Freedom and Privacy

CFP 2001

For today's class, you should spend the afternoon at the 2001 Conference on Computers, Freedom, and Privacy. This is the premier conference dealing with computers and civil liberties and it is your chance to meet some of the world's leading figures in this arena.

The people at the confernece registration desk will have a list with your name on it, giving you permission to attend the conference afternoon session free of charge.

The conference will be at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge, which is adjacent to campus -- just past Westgate and across the street from building W91.

You can find general information about CFP2001 at cfp2001.org, and you can find the conference program here.

Try to stay for as much of the afternoon as you can (including the Pioneer Awards), be sure to attend at least the two afternoon sessions:

Assignment

Meet one of the conference attendee and get into a conversation about a topic related to the conference. Then write up a one-paragraph description of whom you met and what you talked about and post this to the class discussion list. Extra credit if the person you meet is a conference panelist. Please post your paragraph to the discussion list before Wednesday, March 14.
