Midterm exam
Project overview and formation of teams

Project preferences

Look at the class calendar to see the list of projects and the dates of the various presentations. Note that the Carnivore presentation is first. People working on it will have to get organized right away, but you should have already some good a lot of background on this from attending the CFP conference panel.

Please email Hal (hal@mit.edu) telling him:

  1. Your first three choices which project you want to work on, in rank order. We'll try to honor your choices, but we can't guarantee this.
  2. Is there someone else in the class you want to be assigned to the same team with?
  3. A sentence or two explaining why you picked the choices you did.

This is due by Monday, March 19.

The midterm, and preparation

Most of today's class will be devoted to the midterm. This will be a "law school style" midterm. That is, we will give you hypothetical cases to write about, similar to what we did in the liability assignment. The exam will be open book: you can bring any materials you want, but you will need to already be familiar with the readings and the cases in order to answer the questions effectively.

The exam material will cover all the readings assigned so far. In addition please read the chapter on Torts (pp. 224-256) from Ben Franklin's Web Site.
