Fall Semester, 1998
6.001 Final Exam Announcement - Issued Dec. 3, 1998
The final exam for 6.001 will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 16, from
1:30 pm to 4:30 pm in the MIT Johnson Athletic Center (upstairs).
There is only one exam period, so if you finish early you are
permitted to leave early. Note that final exam conflicts are only
handled and scheduled by the MIT Registrar's Office.
The final exam will be comprehensive, and cover all material presented
throughout the term. The exam will, however, more heavily emphasize the
material covered in the last third of the course (since the second quiz).
This exam will be open book - you are permitted to bring the
text book, your problem sets, and any other notes you have made
throughout the term. Electronic computation devices are not permitted.
As an experiment, we are soliciting candidate final exam questions
from students. This is entirely optional: if you are interested, you
can create an exam question that might be on the final! We will make
an effort to include one or more good questions (``good'' both in
content and in ease of grading!) contributed by 6.001 students on the
exam (either with or without modifications). Please email candidate
final exam questions to your tutor by the last recitation (Wednesday,
Dec. 9). You are free to exchange these questions with other students
for self-study and practice.
No grades or finals for 6.001 will be available until after 10 AM on
Monday, December 21. After that time, you may (1) wait until grades
are mailed by the Registrar in January; (2) access your grades via
WEBSIS beginning Dec. 21, or (3) contact Ms. Carol Nicolora at
Prof. Boning's office (39-567). No grades will be given out by phone;
you must appear in person with ID if selecting the third option.
Completed final exams will not be handed back to students, but will
be available starting on December 21 for students to look at (but not
remove from) Prof. Boning's office, Room 39-567.
Please note: the Course VI undergraduate office does not have
6.001 exam or course grades.
Good luck!
