meeting today

hi guys,

i hate to do this, but i'm wanting to skip the meeting today, on account
of terrible stomach pains. i will be in tomorrow, but here's a brief
update on things:

i'm getting deeper into the stata plans and i believe i've found
everything i need. fortunately illustrator appears to do a good job of
dwg->dxf conversion, including packing all external XREF's into the dxf
(in other words, a big chunk of code i thought i'd have to write is taken
care of). the next step is to either merge layers from fully separate
plans (so that, e.g., the text labels are on the plans with the
actual walls -- this is a different problem from dealing with
XREF's), which can hopefully be done with illustrator (do any of you
know how to do that offhand?), or later by merging the UG's. acad2ug and
dejunk are running decently on some of these DXFs, but ug2iv unfortunately
segfaults so it's hard to get a good idea of what the result looks like.
if any of you remember, ug2iv uses the old CADlib (not the newer CADlib2)
and i suspect i know where the problem is with that. i will let you know
as things progress. fortunately i have illustrator here at home so i will
be looking at some things tonight.
