walkthru status (mainline stable again)

i'm done with the togl updates.  you may all update your
working copies again safely now.  (*poke* *poke* :)

next task is update of actual tcl/tk and TUI frontend code.
as the system is stable now but that might get iffy (tho not
enough so to justify a branch), i will be dropping a tag
down soon to mark this position.  i'll tell you when i do
that, but for now, head revision is fine and good.
