milestones + updated BMG list
i've updated the BMG list to include will and laura:
andreasw@mit.edu
tdrury@mit.edu
lokie@graphics.lcs.mit.edu
wml@graphics.lcs.mit.edu
seth@graphics.lcs.mit.edu
also, here are some potential milestones to shoot
for on one trunk of the project (turning the basemap
into valid exterior skins for the campus). a second
trunk involves pushing BMG forward to do extruded
interior floorplans. let's talk about that too,
over the next few weeks.

thoughts about summer goals for BMG project
(will, laura, and andreas)
get all basemap contours vertically extruded and capped
(design annotation scheme to denote domes, etc.)
use known # of floors, standard per-floor height
MILESTONE: full campus model, exteriors & roofs only
[this appears to have been done by keyuan, already]
gather per-floor heights for each floor, and propose
suitable annotation scheme for heights. verify that
the summed floor heights are commensurate with stated
building heights.
MILESTONE: as above, but with correct floor, building heights
acquire texture swaths for each (face of each) building
take photograph with meter sticks visible in picture?
clip to one square meter of texture?
design binding scheme to map textures to buildings
infer gaps in texture from floorplan windows
MILESTONE: as above, but with exterior side textures visible
using aerial photos:
(easy) use manual texture swaths for roof textures
(harder) register aerial photos to state plane coordinates
MILESTONE: as above, but with exterior roof textures visible
get example topographic maps of campus from greg knight.
resolve them to state plane coordinates, and site all
buildings appropriately onto the resulting surfaces.
[NOTE: check these sites too for useful context:

MILESTONE: as above, but with varying ground levels
