UID Teatime is a daily meeting time for the UID group. Teatime will be the only regularly-scheduled meeting in the UID group; it will take the place of regular weekly group meetings and individual meetings. PhD students are expected to attend regularly; other students should attend at least once a week.

Teatime will have a rolling agenda. You should propose agenda topics by writing them on this wiki page. Topics can range from short show-and-tells like we used to do in the group meeting (1 minute or 2 minutes), discussions about research ideas or research papers you've read (15-30 minutes), or design discussions or talks with slides (up to 60 minutes). Examples of good topics include:

  1. a weekly progress report on your research
  2. a demo of your latest research work
  3. a report of your latest experiment
  4. a design discussion about work you're planning to do
  5. code that you've checked in that other eyeballs should review
  6. a new research idea that you'd like to pursue
  7. a research paper, talk, conference, web site, or demo from somewhere else that's relevant to research in the group
  8. a user interface that you implemented that's unrelated to your research
  9. a new or interesting web site, UI, tool, paper, or idea you discovered
  10. a UI hall of fame or shame candidate

The list above is roughly in order of preference -- your own work is preferred to other people's, and research is more important than personal projects, web sites, or commercial applications.

Each day someone will take notes of interesting UID concepts and ideas discussed at Tea, and put them on the Tea Blog

If you need to register as a new user for the Tea Blog, you can follow the instructions at the Blog Signup Page.

The tea agenda has moved to Google Docs for easier editing.
