Sebastian Palacios receives Harvard-MIT research recognition

Congratulation to Sebastian Palacios for receiving one of three yearly honorable mention awards at the 2016 Heath, Science and Technology (HST) Forum, held on Thursday, April 14 in Harvard Medical School campus. An expert panel of judges determined this recognition based on his design of a new type of advanced medical technology that combines synthetic biology, neuroscience, control theory, semiconductor technology and computer science to repair the nervous system. The system features methodical precision and therapeutic capabilities beyond what is possible today to repair damage to the nervous system. Some of the applications include brain circuitry reconstruction, spinal cord repair, and potential cures for various types of blindness. The Weiss Lab has allocated new resources and support to enable Sebastian to fully develop his technology at MIT.
