Andrew George Bentz was born in York Co., PA on July 24, 1847, the son of Nancy Groff and George Bentz.
He married Katherine Hershey, the daughter of Elizabeth Shetter and John Hershey, on February 11, 1869. She was born June 13, 1850.
He moved to Ashland, Nebraska, reputedly by covered wagon.
His second wife was Alice M. Freiday, whom he married on January 20, 1904 in Ashland, NE.
They had nine children. He died on December 8, 1924, she on April 20, 1903.
