Help the League for Programming Freedom

• It has been suggested that the LPF should speak out about the frightening issue of software that is in danger of being illegal to write: exploits. Some institutions would like to make it illegal to simply write or distribute a program that could be used to crack a system.

• Tell others about the League for Programming Freedom.
  • Add a link to the LPF home page, URL: http://lpf.ai.mit.edu/ to your home pages, and ask others to do so. This is a new URL, as the League does not own the lpf.org domain name anymore.

  • Give copies of the LPF position papers, Against Software Patents and Against User Interface Copyright to your friends, colleagues and customers. And pass them out at conferences, trade shows, user group meetings, et al.

• If you work on software, you can personally help prevent software patents by refusing to cooperate in applying for them. The details of this may depend on the situation.

• In the United States, another way to help is to write to Congress. You can write to your own representatives, but it may be even more effective to write to the subcommittees that consider such issues:
