Dock II & NEC 6XI

I have a NEC 6XI CD-ROM that I'm trying to install in a Dock II.  The NEC
docs say to install a jumper on pin 5 for termination.  The Host Adapter
Termination is set to Automatic.  This is the only device I've installed in
the Dock II.  If I install the pin, I get an error message saying there are
"more than two terminators active".  If I don't install the pin, the error
message says there are "fewer than two terminators active".  Does anyone
have an idea how I get exactly "two terminators active"?
