subcommittee reports

Well, Dan Friedman and I worked out something privately that looked
pretty reasonable to me.  He was going to teach it to his class and
get back to me with info about the results.  He presumably got
side-tracked on the follow-up part, since I didn't hear back, but I
assumed he did try it and has used it some.  I'd like to see that
system circulated to the exceptions subcommittee and/or to rrrs-authors
for comment, but my copy is on tape somewhere in a box at my new house,
not yet unpacked.  Dan...?
