Dominic Kao is a Ph.D. Candidate at MIT in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science program, interested in writing his dissertation at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction, Games, and Education. He has studied how virtual avatars impact people's task performance and immersion in a virtual gaming environment called Mazzy, and how these avatars can serve to empower or disempower different users. Dominic comes to MIT from Princeton University where he studied Computer Science.
