CSAIL Awards
MIT Rewards and Recognition Program
On January 1, 2001, MIT implemented a new Rewards and Recognition Program to recognize outstanding efforts made by Institute employees. The Rewards and Recognition Program is represented by three programs, which provide individuals and teams with opportunities for special recognition at different times throughout the year:- The MIT EXCELLENCE Awards - given annually, at an Institute-wide ceremony
- The Infinite Mile Awards - given semi-annually, or annually by local areas (CSAIL employees are eligible for the School of Engineering's awards)
- The Appreciation Awards - given on-the-spot, by departments, labs and centers
CSAIL Spot Awards
CSAIL has developed the following method of distributing our Appreciate Awards (a.k.a. Spot Awards):Who is Eligible:

Any MIT staff, faculty member or student via nomination form

Criteria:
MIT Appreciation Awards (a.k.a. Spot Awards) are intended to demonstrate immediate appreciation and recognition for a specific project or event. (This particular award is not intended to recognize sustained outstanding service.) The award should be given in recognition for an act that was done beyond the person's normal job duties and responsibilities. The award nominations will be reviewed and administered by the Assistant Director and the Personnel Coordinator, in consultation with the Director.
Distribution:
Process will be accomplished as quickly as possible so that approved awards can be given within 24 hours of submission, barring any unforeseen circumstances. To ensure that awards will be available throughout the year, only 35 awards will be distributed per semester (Spring, Summer and Fall). When the limit has been reached, a notice will be posted.
