E-mail users are individuals too - the lack of personalisation in use of today’s email tools is a quite interesting post but quite difficult to understand for me.

Hi Max, how are you? Thanks for this post.

Being a mom, I wonder how the younger generation thinks of email. For us, email was something new in our teens (for you, younger, I suppose), but for today's kids, email has been around since they were born, and they are used to using email from very early on, way before they are able to hack.

My daughter has had a gmail account since she was 2, and she's been emailing since she was 3. She is quite a fluent emailer now (first, by dictating to mom or dad, but very soon, by typing herself). Would that make her more or less likely to hack on her email client when she's able to do so? On one hand, she would grow up to trust and use email and other online communication tools much more than we ever did in our childhood, so she may feel more of a need for personalization. On the other hand, email has been a part of her life from very early on, so she may take it for granted and not think about all the intricacies of the tool. I wonder what your thoughts are.
