Advanced Illumination Models
Illumination models thus far:
- Largely emprically based- arbitrary fuctions that approximate
observed data
- Failed to consider energy equillibrium
- Still inconsistant with some know physical phenomenon
One of the first physically-based relection models was presented by
Blinn in 1977. His work was based on a paper written by Torrance and
Sparrow in 1966. The model he proposed was similar to Phong's model:
