Using ICTs to Improve HIV/AIDS Treatment in Sub-Saharan Africa

Daniel Kayiwa is a Software Developer in the Department of Innovations and Software Development at the Faculty of Computing & IT, Makerere University, Uganda. He will discuss the challenges, successes and lessons learned while implementing an OpenMRS medical record system for an AIDS treament program in Uganda.

Kieran Sharpey-Schafer is a software engineer for Cell-Life, a not-for-profit company based in Cape Town, South Africa. Cell-Life's focus is the use of ICTs in supporting the fight against HIV and AIDS. He will cover some of the lessons learned in the development and delivery of applications in this environment.
