Previous: Research Issues
Our current goal in Project Bayanihan is to develop a flexible software
framework that will allow us to explore these issues by making
it possible to implement various approaches to them.
We are currently implementing such a framework using HORB [20],
a distributed object library that provides remote objects capabilities
in Java similar to those of Sun's RMI [26].
HORB was chosen over RMI because it does not require JDK 1.1
(which is presently not as ubiquitous as JDK 1.0),
is easier to use [19], and is potentially faster [21].
In this section, we provide an overview of the framework architecture,
and discuss how it addresses the issues described above.
